How to  download and Install Office Setup on your Computer?

If you are have not subscribed before, simply sign in and download the office setup then follow steps for installation.




Microsoft Office is a full-fledged package that consists of different  applications, services and servers. The applications of Office are updated with the launch of its latest versions periodically. However, the main and basic application of Office  like Access, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and a few more remained same but are added with improved features with every update. Downloading Office Setup

Microsoft Office can be downloaded Offline and Online depending on the version you opted to use. To download, follow the steps mentioned below steps:


  1. Sign in to your Microsoft Office account at Office.com/setup
  2. You will be asked to enter the product key
  3. Enter 25 digit Office product key and hit enter
  4. If you are a new user, then click Create an Account to create a new account. 
  5. Fill in the required details to sign up and sign in
  6. Now, from the list of Office subscriptions, select your subscription
  7. Click Download and wait till the office setup file is downloaded


  1. Insert the Office Setup CD in the CD/DVD drive of your system
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download the product

In the former case, you will get an Office product key on your registered email or on the back of the card you have to redeem the key to download and  activate the product . For Offline purchase, you will get the product key along with the CD. Keep this key secure with you!

Installing Office Setup

For Windows

  1. Double-click on the downloaded Office setup file available in the Downloads folder
  2. A popup will be prompted click yes
  3. Wait until the office  installation finishes sucessfully
  4. Click to close the window

For Mac

  1. Once you download Office Setup 365 on your device, open the blue face shaped-app Finder from your Mac’s Dock
  2. Double-click the Office setup to begin the installation
  3. Click Continue twice
  4. Click Agree followed by Continue
  5. Now, click Install and provide your Mac password
  6. Click Close to close the window

Activating Office Setup

  1. Open any of the Office application and you will see an Office Activation Wizard

Uninstalling Office Setup

 In case, you want to uninstall  Office setup, then you have to follow these steps to know the type of installation. There are two types of installation that are used by the users:

  • MSI: Microsoft Windows Installer is an old technique of installing Office setup through local installation resource
  • Click-to-Run: The latest method of installing and updating Office is over the internet. By default the latest version of Office products is installed by this method.

To find out the installation type, do the following:

  • Open any of  the Office application
  • Open File – Account or Office Account
  • If  “Update Options” is available, it means the setup is installed through Click-to-Run installation
  • If update option is not available, then its installed through MSI

In case of click-to-run, before you remove or uninstall the Office setup, you have to login to your Windows account with administrator account and follow these steps:

  1. Remove the Windows Installer packages
  2. Remove the Office scheduled tasks
  3. Use Task Manager to end Click-to-Run tasks
  4. Delete the Office services
  5. Remove the Office files
  6. Remove Office Registry keys
  7. Remove Start menu shortcuts of Office
  8. Uninstall the Office Click-To-Run Licensing Component, Extensibility Component and Localization Component

In case of MSI type installation, unhide all the hidden folders and files before moving towards the uninstallation of Office setup. Then follow these steps:

  1. Remove any remaining Windows Installer packages of Office
  2. Halt the Office Source Engine Service
  3. Delete Office installation folders and files
  4. Now, remove the registry subkeys for the Office system

Reinstalling Office Setup

If you want to move your  Office setup to another PC. Simply uninstall the Office setup following the aforementioned uninstallation steps and then follow these steps to reinstall on the new device:

  1. Turn on your new device
  2. Visit www.office.com/setup and login your Office account
  3. Download your already purchased subscription that you were using on the old PC
  4. Install the Office setup and enter the product key
  5. It will be install on your new device
